Pazuzu is the most famous and feared of ancient Babylonian and Assyrian demons, known in modern horror pop culture as the demonic spirit in The Exorcist. The name Pazuzu is thought to be derived from the Akkadian verb pasiisu, "to destroy".
Many amulets (used to banish demonic spirits by the terrifying force of the demon Kings authority: "I am Pazuzu, son of Ḫanbu, king of the evil lilû-demons. I was enraged (in violent motion) against the strong mountains and ascended them."
