The Saint of the mysteries of Death....Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte is commonly a personification of death (in Mexican Neo-Paganism and folk Catholicism) as a female robed skeletal spirit holding a scythe and a globe (representing earth) whose follows make offerings for healing, protection, and safe passing into the netherworld. In some Satanic traditions, Muerte may be associated with Cain. The traditional Mexican Santa Muerte is known by many names, including Señora de las Sombras ("Lady of Shadows"), and Señora Negra ("Black Lady"). Muerte has an ancient origin as the Aztec goddess Mictēcacihuātl, meaning "Lady of the Dead", consort of Mictlāntēcutli, god of the dead and the lowest level of the underworld.
